Roadmap Promise Tracker
Every dated public promise we track from listed quantum computing companies: roadmap milestones, qubit counts, fidelity targets, product launches and financial guidance. Each one is marked by what the public record shows today, with a link to where the promise was made and the date we last checked it. Promises falling due in the next few months also appear, with exact dates where known, on the Quantum Catalyst Calendar.

Promise scorecards
Counts per company for the promises in this tracker, in alphabetical order. On-time counts only promises that resolved: delivered with a dated source, or missed. Companies publish different numbers of dated targets, so these counts are not a comparison between companies.

Due Q1 2026Promised Oct 17, 2026
Demonstrate quantum advantage on an industry-relevant problem by the end of Q1 2026.
Pasqal's H1 2026 release says it can deliver quantum advantage today, citing a 256-atom TmMgGaO4 simulation (arXiv preprint, Mar 2026). It stays Promised until the claim is peer-reviewed or released as a public dataset.
Promise: pasqal.com (roadmap, Oct 17, 2026) · Latest evidence: pasqal.com (Sep 24, 2026) · Advantage claim: arxiv.org (preprint; no peer-reviewed version found) · Checked: Oct 20, 2026
Notes
Advantage rule: the supporting paper is an arXiv preprint (v3) and we found no peer-reviewed version or public dataset as of Oct 20, 2026; no classical rebuttal found either. The June 2025 roadmap release said 'first part of 2026'; the roadmap page says end of Q1 2026. The deadline has passed; under the rule the row stays Promised until verified. The claims tracker row is open too.
-
Due mid-2026Promised May 20, 2025
Deliver a 150-qubit superconducting system to VTT in Finland in mid-2026, as the first stage of a 300-qubit system.
Deadline passed without delivery. New date: late 2026. IQM's Sep 9, 2026 post, published after the mid-2026 window, says the first 150-qubit stage arrives late 2026; the 300-qubit system is still set for 2027.
Promise: vttresearch.com (partner release, May 20, 2025) · Latest evidence: iqm.tech (Sep 9, 2026) · Follow-up: VTT 150 qubits (late 2026) · Checked: Oct 20, 2026
Notes
Scored missed under the house rule: a target re-dated only after its deadline counts as missed. No earlier re-dating notice was found. The late-2026 date is tracked as its own row.

-
Due by end of 2026Promised Nov 12, 2025
First cases of verified quantum advantage will be confirmed by the wider community by the end of 2026.
Disputed. IBM and the University of Chicago announced an advantage result on Jul 30, 2026, with circuits and results on the open Quantum Advantage Tracker. An August 2026 paper reports a classical simulation of that circuit in 37 minutes on 256 GPUs.
Promise: newsroom.ibm.com (press release, Nov 12, 2025) · Latest evidence: newsroom.ibm.com (Jul 30, 2026) · Advantage claim: arxiv.org (preprint; circuits and results in the open Quantum Advantage Tracker) · Classical rebuttal: arxiv.org (Aug 2026) · Checked: Oct 20, 2026
Notes
Advantage rule: published as a public dataset (Quantum Advantage Tracker) plus an arXiv preprint, but a classical rebuttal is outstanding (arXiv 2608.13110 simulated the 70-qubit, 468 T-gate instance). IBM's preprint v3 (Sep 2, 2026) reports a 64-qubit, 314 T-gate circuit; we found no public settlement of whether that instance is beyond classical reach. The promise itself names confirmation 'by the wider community' by the end of 2026.

How this tracker works
We list a promise only when a company made it in public with a date: a roadmap, a press release, a filing, an earnings release or call, or an investor presentation. Undated goals are left out. Each row links to the original statement; delivered and changed rows also link to the evidence or the revision.
- Measured needs a dated public source showing delivery. When that source is only the company's own statement, the row carries a Company-reported tag.
- Missed is used only after the deadline has passed. A year-only target is not missed before the year is over.
- Changed means the company revised or re-dated the target before the deadline. The follow-up promise is tracked as its own row. A target re-dated only after its deadline counts as Missed, with the new date noted.
- Quantum advantage claims count as Measured only when the claim is published (a peer-reviewed paper or a public dataset) and no credible classical rebuttal is outstanding. If a rebuttal is outstanding, the row stays Promised and is tagged Disputed, with links to both sides. Otherwise it stays Promised, tagged Advantage not yet verified, until it meets the rule.
- Check pending marks rows where the record is unclear; they are left out of on-time counts until checked.
7 of the 66 rows were added for this tracker from company and partner releases; the rest come from our claims tracker, catalyst calendar and roadmap scorecard. This page records public statements for education and discussion. It is not financial or investment advice and does not rate any company.
